Mugs are extremely versatile! Most folks aren’t aware of just how versatile they can be, so we’ve put together a very incomplete list of the MULTIPLE USES OF MUGS from the MugWumpers, and some trivia to go along with it.
The first mugs were made of wood, sorta like George Washington’s teeth, which worked about as well.
Next came clay mugs, which were manufactured between 4000-5000 BCE. (Ancient records show that the ancestors of Gumby came from this era, and may well have been among the original mug artisans, if not the first handles.) The picture below shows a rather nicely decorated relic salvaged from this time period found in Greece (for real!)
Then, when metal was created around 2000 BCE, mugs got really decorative and were made out of bronze, silver, gold, and of course, lead. Problem was, they were too hot to handle when filled with hot stuff, and were mostly used for trading off to folks who then learned that they were too hot to handle when filled with hot stuff.
After that came the Ceramic Era around 600 BCE, which is still the latest craze, and what constitutes the basis of our Mugwumpers Mugs.
The next grand era will no doubt be the App Era (not to be confused with Op-era), where someone will figure out a way to feed coffee intravenously at the touch of a pad of some sort. Then, MugWumpers mugs will be antique collector’s items and sell for MILLIONS on Ebay, so you’d better get on board now and order your MugWumpers mug today!!!
The Multiple Uses of MugWumpers mugs:
toothbrush holders
denture holders
glass eye holders (well, you get the idea)
pencil holders (do people still use pencils?)
door stops (fill with cement for heavy doors)
paint brush holder (we're talking fine art brushes here!)
loose change
flower vase (especially nice for dandelions or other weeds your kids or grandkids bring you!)
There are so many ways you can use your MugWumpers mug. If you have any suggestions (that don’t include a particular anatomical location in which in which we might place them), please let us know!
